Apartment hunting for Angelicum students

  • You can live at a so called “college” or at a private flat.
  • Renting a flat.
    • In Rome all accomodations are rather expensive.
    • Cheaper flats are available in the outskirts of Rome, some of these places are quite well connected to the Angelicum with a local train (this means that you get there in about one hour).
    • Make sure that that your landlord gives you a contract.
    • One-room-apartments cost between 400 Euro and 500 Euro a month in Rome, about 300 Euro in the outskirts. Flats with two rooms about are about 800 Euro in Rome and 600 Euro outside.
    • Apartments for rent can be found:
      • in certain newspapers (see list below),
      • by announcements on university blackboards or with an agency (see below),
      • at pastoral centers of Roman universities,
      • through agencies although their fees are quite high.
    • Try to call early in the morning and present yourselve as a student of a Pontifical University.
    • Those who want to share a flat with other students may leave their phone numbers and get the numbers of those of like interest at the Office for Student Affairs.
  • University Colleges:
    • Colleges usually cost between 400 and 600 Euro a month (food included), and at least 250 Euro (without food).
    • Female colleges are usually run by religious sisters and offer an educative program.
    • Places in male colleges are difficult to find.
    • Places have to be reserved already in May or June; some colleges have a “waiting list” for the following year.

  • University bulletin boards:
    • At PUST the ASPUST (Angelicum Students Organisation) bulletin is right in front of the library.
    • For bulletin boards of the “Cappelle Universitarie” of Roman Universities see below.
    • The bulletin boards of other Universities are on their campuses. See, for example, LUMSA.

    • The “Centro Accoglienza,” or welcome desk, at the “Capella universitaria dell’Università La Sapienza” at Piazzale Aldo Moro.
      • Take the metro (B line) to the station “Policlinico. Walk 200 meters southeast on the Viale Regina Elena, and then turn right into teh Viale dell’università. Afterwards turn left onto the Viale delle Scienze and proceed southeast to the Piazzale Aldo Moro. It will take you 5 minutes.

      • Opening hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Wednesdays from from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • Newspapers and useful internet sites:
    • “Solocase” which is published on Fridays has some pages with flats for rent entitled “appartamenti in affitto”.
    • “Portaportese” comes out on Tuesdays and Fridays. It has the best choice of flats.
    • “Casamia” comes out on Mondays and is available only in certain bars or on the Internet at www.romacasamia.it.
    • www.piùcase.it is the site of the review “Piùcase” which comes out on Saturdays.
    • www.wantedinrome.com is the site of “Wanted in Rome”. Editions of the review were the 17th and the 31st of October. E-mail: wantedinrome@compuserve.com.
    • www. gabetti.it is from an agency that offers good flats especially in the outskirts of Rome.
    • The remark “busta paga” means that the flat would be rented to workers only with a monthly salary. The phrase “ragazza operaia/ragazzo operaio” excludes students.
